Technical insights and applications
Torque measurements of bottle caps, jars, vials and vials

The TNP series cap torque meter is a precision instrument for measuring the opening and closing torque values of caps for various applications.
The TNP torque meter is used in the quality control of products in the industry medical, pharmaceutical, industrial, research and development and countless other torque measurement applications. As a cap torque analyzer, the TNP repeatedly determines bottle closure and breakout torque.
Its large memory capacity is capable of storing 1.000 data points, including average, maximum and minimum values. A HI-GO-LO LED comparison function can be used for large batch testing to ensure overall product quality. The TNP is a portable device powered by internal rechargeable batteries or by the supplied universal AC adapter / charger.
Designed with a small footprint, it can be easily transferred between the workshop and the laboratory taking up little space during operation. The TNP torque meter comes standard with USB connection and cable for a simple PC / Software interface. In combination with the free “DIGITORQ” software, it is possible to perform statistical tests, graphs and analyzes.

Applications of torque transducers for caps
Cap torque meters not only measure the classic opening torque of a cap on the bottle but can also be used for applications on valves, locks, taps or objects that require the rotation of a spherical or cylindrical element for their operation.
Below are some typical applications of cap torque transducers:

- Measurements on bottle caps for drinks, spirits, water, wine, fruit juices, milk and food products in general.
- Measurements on bottle caps for the pharmaceutical industry
- Measurements on caps for cosmetic and beauty products.
- Measurements on caps with safety closures for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
- Measurements on caps for food containers, drums or bags, both for end consumers and for the processing industry
- Measures on caps or products for the preservation industry (preserves, jams, long-life products)
- Measurements during the production of caps and accessories (safety closures) for the verification of production batches of caps.
- Torque measurements of taps and manual valves with rotation of knobs or levers
- Force measurements of opening and closing of locks
- Opening force measurements of padlocks and security locks
Easy and quick to use

Cap torque transducers are easy to use both on the workbench at the production line and in the metrology laboratory.
Furthermore, the table support is made in a stable way and above all not influenced by the force applied to the cap during the testing operations. The robust structure allows the test to be carried out even on large bottles and containers or with caps of particularly large diameter.
Simply place the bottle on the table, close the retaining pins and then reset the display. As soon as you try to unscrew the cap, the instrument starts recording data. When the peak of the safety ring tearing is reached, and therefore the torque decreases, the instrument stores the maximum torque exerted during the opening cycle.
The process can be repeated as many times consecutively and store all the obtained data in an external Excel file for subsequent analysis and statistical calculation.
Calibration report
Cap torque testers are measuring instruments for certifying and controlling torsional force. All measuring instruments must be certified and checked periodically to ensure that the measurement performed is correct.
Certification consists in comparing the value read by the instrument with the reference value of another instrument or of a sample.
Both standard calibration certificates, which are produced in ISO17025 certified laboratories, and Accredia calibration certificates can be managed.
