The applications of tachometers in the industrial field are many. In addition to measuring the revolutions of rotating objects (spindles, rotors, pulleys, gears), the speed or length of the conveyor belts and the metric count of the products can also be measured using a measuring wheel.

There is also the possibility of determining the minimum revolutions of rotating objects without contact using a reflection mark and a light beam emitted by the instrument. For this type of applications, LASER measuring instruments can be used which also allow safe operation on rotating parts, without the need for contact or mechanical coupling of the instrument with the rotating part.
