Length measurement applications are widely used in various industrial and scientific sectors. Such tools are necessary to evaluate the precision or accuracy of a finished product or to detect any defects in production.

Measure the length with vernier calipers

The vernier caliper is a very common and versatile length measuring instrument. It is composed of a graduated scale and a pair of spouts. To carry out the measurement, the beaks are positioned between two surfaces, in order to understand their length. Measurements can be made in millimetres, centimeters or inches, based on the unit of measurement of the graduated scale.

Measure the length with LASER distance meters

LASER distance meters are used in long-range, high-precision distance measurements. These instruments use a LASER beam to generate a point of light that reflects on the surface to be measured. The time it takes for the LASER beam to return to the origin is used to calculate the exact distance between the starting point and the reflecting surface.

Measure the length with contact micrometers

The contact micrometer is a very precise length measuring instrument. This instrument consists of a pair of probes coupled to a precision linear transducer. To carry out the measurement, the piece to be measured is positioned between the two feelers, using the friction drum to precisely regulate the pressure exerted by the feeler. The measurement is then read on the graduated scale of the dial or on the digital display.

Measure the length with digital dial indicators

The digital comparator is a displacement measurement instrument that uses a precision linear transducer to detect small changes in displacement. The sensors are connected to a digital display, which allows you to read the increase in length in millimeters or microns. The digital comparator is particularly useful for measuring complex shaped parts.

Measure length with LVDT linear transducers

The LVDT linear transducer is a highly precise length measuring instrument. This instrument uses a magnetic core transformer to produce an output voltage proportional to the cursor position. The voltage signals are then converted into length units by a special control unit. The LVDT linear transducer can detect length changes down to a few microns.
