Moisture meter for wooden and fiberglass hulls
Identifies the presence of osmosis in fiberglass hulls
Confirm if the wooden boats are dry enough for painting
The use of soft rubber electrodes provide direct contact with the hull without scratching or deteriorating the surface
The Tramex Skipper Plus, non-destructive moisture meter, provides a complete and safe method for detecting excess humidity in fiberglass and wooden hulls. The Skipper Plus is a pocket hygrometer, designed to locate humidity in the hulls and accessories of the boat.
Three scales for humidity detection in GRP and hardwood for salt and fresh water.
- Wide range of wood readings from 5% to 30% on a hardwood scale and from 0 to 100 on a comparative scale for fiberglass and other materials.
- Identifies the presence of osmosis in fiberglass hulls.
- Confirm if the wooden boats are dry enough for painting or varnishing.
- Track leaks on decks and bulkheads.
- The "Hold" function facilitates the recording of readings.
- Soft rubber electrodes provide direct contact without scratching.
- Audio warning tone for high humidity can be activated or deactivated.
- Battery operated (included)
Skipper Plus is based on the principle of measuring non-destructive impedance. Coplanar electrodes, mounted on the base of the instrument, transmit low frequency signals in the tested material and measure the variation of impedance caused by the presence of humidity. This reading is indicated on the instrument as a reading of the moisture content.

The Skipper Plus moisture meter is used for:
- Timely detection before the appearance of osmotic bubbles.
- Identification of the affected area.
- Hull monitoring during dehumidification and repair phases.
- Checking the drying of the abraded areas before recoating.
To obtain lasting finishes and resistance of hulls and wooden components, it is essential to ensure that they are well maintained and that they do not contain excess humidity.
Excess humidity can create phenomena of structural and aesthetic deterioration, both on wooden and fiberglass hulls or special composite materials.
Moisture can cause de-lamination and blistering of finishes and applied treatments.
New paints can fail prematurely if the wood on which they are applied is not sufficiently dry.
Hidden or trapped moisture can lead to mold and biological growth.
Skipper Plus can be moved to the surface of the boat to detect humidity quickly and accurately, detecting humidity non-destructively through paints and coatings on wood up to a depth of 30 mm (1,25 ").
Skipper Plus can also be used to detect leaks and trace them at the source, both above and below the bridges without damaging the surfaces and without scratching the aesthetic parts.
